Fandom: Star Wars: SWTOR
Character: Tharan Cedrax
Open for crossovers? Yes
Appearance:
At 5′11, Tharan is a decent height for a male human but often finds himself looking up to the various aliens he deals with. His reddish brown hair is kept short and brushed back, a mustache and goatee kept neatly trimmed. Intelligent green eyes sparkle under expressive brows. Fair skin is mostly covered as he prefers to wear long duster-style jackets and gloves.
Personality:
Tharan is a charming, handsome, smooth talking man - and that’s very fortunate, because he’s also egotistical, vain, and sarcastic. Fortunately, it usually balances out. Like him or not, no one can argue the man’s a genius.
Backstory:
Born on Anaxes in 19 BTC (3672 BBY), Tharan was out of standardized schooling early and into college at the University of Corellia. Unfortunately, his interest in studying was outmatched by his interest in building things for fun, and he ended up dropping out after only a short time.He did some traveling through Hutt space, leading to a meeting with Glorzo the Hutt and the holographic program Holiday. Recognizing the brilliance of Holiday’s design, Tharan quickly secured her for himself by beating out a smuggler in Glorzo’s challenge.
Tharan and Holiday ended up settling on Nar Shaddaa, a lot of calculated gambling leading him to the funds to buy a shop for himself where he could develop new technology for a variety of clients, legal or otherwise. While not a household name on a galactic scale, certain circuits quickly grew to respect and appreciate his talents and he was contracted to build a variety of devices and even the Shadow Town prison.
Despite his reputation as a playboy and gambler, Tharan had friends among the Jedi and ended up traveling alongside their Barsen’thor during the Cold War. Though he’d be the first to say he was far from the hero sort, he was loyal to his companions and ended up playing a considerable role in several major battles, roles that were recognized formally by the Republic.
Due to his travels with the Barsen’thor, he became known in wider circles and attracted the attention of the Lumenatus Club, who invited him to one of their symposiums. His goal was to produce the previously theoretical Vandrayk Generator, but he realized that the core - which would only run for one minute before self destructing - could be used to boost Holiday’s sentience. Despite his desire for fame, his devotion to Holiday won out and he used the core for her, leaving him a laughing-stock when he was left with a nonfunctioning generator for the symposium.
Main Verses:
V: Genius of Nar Shaddaa (Pre-SWTOR)
Tharan operates on Nar Shaddaa, creating various pieces of unique technology for wealthy and eccentric clients all over the galaxy. While not quite a household name, he’s well known in several circles and has no trouble supporting the easy lifestyle he prefers.
V: A Jedi’s Companion (SWTOR Cold War Era)
Tharan would be the first to tell you, he’s no hero. Nonetheless, his love of adventure ended up with him accompanying the Barsen'thor and striking out against the Empire during the war. Despite his sarcastic and sometimes pessimistic nature, Tharan found himself a skilled healer via his various technological designs and his skills as a slicer were unmatched.
He’s still not quite sure how he ended up playing a part in winning the war against the Empire.
V: After the Dust Settles (SWTOR:KotFE)
(details pending)
V: Electronic Legacy (Prequel Era+)
The idea of a permanent death, of simply ceasing to be, was as unacceptable to Tharan as leaving Holiday behind. Before his death, he crafted a body double of himself - in his prime, his vanity would allow no less - and copied his mind over, backing it up securely on the holonet and tied to a deadman’s switch. When he finally died, the android took his place and began a new life that would span for millennia.
Roleplay Notes:
Content Warnings: Possible canon-typical violence, mention of alcohol, gambling.
Shipping: While Tharan is a terrible flirt, ultimately he's involved with Holiday. So she either needs to be out of the picture for some reason, or there needs to be some sort of threesome.
