Fandom: Compilation of FF7
Character: Tristan Pierce
Open for crossovers? Yes

Appearance:
In his early thirties in main verse, Tristan stands at a little over six feet and is very lean. Brown hair is cut short, generally a little messy with slight curl, and occasionally shadows his jawline when he gets lax on shaving. His eyes are a brilliant blue, warm and friendly to most and always calculating. Over the years, he’s acquired several little scars on his knuckles, and has a single tattoo - a golden sunburst on his upper right arm.

Personality:
Tristan has an easy manner about him, an innate friendliness and casual charm that draw people in. He’s always ready to strike up a conversation, and his sharp memory allows him to remember people - and details - well enough to have formed an extensive network of connections.

Backstory:

Tristan was born in fall of ‘68 to Brendan and Lila Pierce. Raised with his younger sister Olivia in Midgar’s lower Four, he was an endlessly friendly child who never met someone he wasn’t willing to talk to and had a great memory for faces and names. This would eventually lead into his job as a broker, where he used his connections to create a network used for meeting the needs and wants of others dealing in goods, services and information - legal or not.

While his business did eventually become profitable enough to move Plateside with the rest of his family, he simply helped support their move and stayed in the Slums. He lives modestly, but more comfortably than most even though he’s careful not to flaunt it.

His business has seen him making connections from the other denizens of the Slums to having wealthy patrons on the Plate, and he deals with people from gangs to ShinRa employees without bias, (BC/CC era and before) so long as they make good on their word when doing business and continue to treat him as a neutral party.

When ShinRa starts to go downhill (OG era), Tristan becomes much more picky about who he’s willing to deal with; being with ShinRa almost guarantees a no, or minimal service, unless you were an established contact and he monitors interactions with AVALANCHE carefully. He is briefly separated from his family during the evacuations for Meteor, but reunites with them in Kalm and moves back with his sister’s family when Edge is established.

Old habits die hard, especially when you’re not trying to get rid of them, and he quickly begins putting his business back together (post-Meteor) though without a solid government there’s even a more fluid sense of what is and isn’t legal. Not that he’s ever been particularly concerned, but it’s helpful. While he doesn’t immediately join the WRO, he has a positive view of them and has considered working with them.

Main Verses:

V: The Middleman (Before Crisis/Crisis Core)
Tristan was born and bred in the Slums, and even after the rest of his family moved onto the Plate he’s been content to stay in Sector Four. Extremely good natured, he’s never met a stranger he couldn’t find common ground with, and his ability to make contacts wherever he goes has led him to his current occupation.

Were someone to ask, he’d simply smile and say he was a middle man. The fact is, if you need something in the Slums and don’t know where to get it? Tristan’s your man. Goods or information makes no difference; if he doesn’t have an immediate answer, he knows where to get one. There are precious few restraints on where he draws the line, and his contacts know that he’ll operate with utmost discretion.

V: The Sky is Falling (Original Game)
With the shakeup of dynamics going on in ShinRa, the Slums are rowdier than ever. Tristan has managed to upgrade a lot of his equipment, but he’s started to be much pickier about who he’s willing to work with.

The only people from ShinRa he’s still willing to deal with are old contacts, but at the same time he’s very wary of AVALANCHE’s seeming lack of discrimination between those he sees as at fault and the civilians who have no actual control of situations.

V: Picking up the Pieces (Post-Meteor)
Tristan lost more than his home and equipment when Meteor and Holy devastated Midgar, most of his contact network scattered and a lot of resources were quickly dried up. At a loss for what to do with himself in the days after, he somewhat fell into the job of coordinating resource management between several volunteer organizations.

It’s a familiar job, with just as much under-the-table dealings as ever as he slowly finds his old contacts and establishes new ones as the broken world starts to shift back into place. While he hasn’t contacted the WRO, it’s crossed his mind more than once that he might be able to be of better use working alongside them.
