Character: Cait Sith
Open for crossovers? Yes
Appearance:
Cait Sith is roughly three feet tall and bears the appearance of a bipedal cat with tuxedo coloring. A small golden crown perches between his ears, a red cape tied about his neck, white gloves over human hands and brown boots covering his feet.
Personality:
Cait is an odd mix of childlike wonder and enthusiasm and an adult’s wider, eclectic knowledge. While his bond with Reeve can provide moments of insight and a more mature way of thinking, in truth he is still a child and often acts like one. While he has a variety of specific, detailed topics he knows a considerable amount about, there are still wide gaps in what he knows and understands, and he can be very naive.
Backstory:
Cait Sith was originally created as an animatronic doll, the likes of which the world had never seen. The detailing to his body, the sheer precision and masterful design, was an unprecedented technological marvel. He moves without a hitch and speaks fluently.
But Cait Sith is more than a doll.
He was created, yes, but he was also born. Reeve Tuesti is a man of many secrets, none buried so deep or guarded so fiercely as his identity as an Inspire. Gifted with the ability to breathe life into the inanimate, Reeve allowed himself one indulgence of his power. He made Cait, yes, but then he held him close, watching. Waiting. Until Cait took his first breath, and a spirit was kindled.
Cait considers Reeve his father, and follows his path of keeping his true nature a secret. Even once he’s worked alongside the Turks, AVALANCHE and WRO, he never lets on that he’s more than a doll.
The illusion is even more solid as other versions of Cait’s have passed away. Reeve does his best to anchor and transfer the soul between bodies, but it takes a toll on them both. Fortunately, no one seems to have caught on.
Main Verses:
V: No One Like Me (Before Crisis/Crisis Core)
For the majority of this era, Cait remains hidden in Reeve’s home and workshop, a carefully kept secret that rarely ventures out. Later on, his existence is shared with a few select Turks, though his true nature is never divulged.
There is the chance, if Reeve has become close to someone, that he may have been mentioned in passing.
V: Roll the Dice (Original Game Era)
Cait is aware of the double life his father is trying to live, balancing helping AVALANCHE with his own duties to ShinRa, and does what he can to assist. Not fully trusted by either AVALANCHE or ShinRa, he puts on his happy-go-lucky persona in an effort to cheer Reeve and hide his own fears.
He’s only been away from home once before, when helping the rogue Turks, and they were trusted allies.
After the Temple of the Ancients kills his first body, there is a period where he is somewhat disconnected, trying to settle the salvaged bits of his soul in with his own.
V: Flip a Coin (Advent Children)
In the two years since Meteorfall, Cait has been doing his best to help Reeve with the budding WRO. More often than not, that includes making the trips out to see AVALANCHE and the Turks in his stead.
V: The House Always Wins (Dirge of Cerberus+)
The WRO is in full swing, and Cait continues to be Reeve’s eyes and ears. He functions everywhere from a scout to a spy to running a full body double of his father to meetings Reeve can’t attend in person. Within the WRO itself, he can be seen ferrying information back and forth, and often helping out when he can get into places that others are unable to go.
