It was a quiet morning, and even though Genesis was better at mornings than he used to be, he still preferred to ease into them. All the better ones that Cloud had stayed the night, waking to his warmth against him even though Cloud always seemed to wake up first.
They were settled on the porch in comfortable silence when Cloud spoke up. “I dreamt about you last night.”
Genesis arched a brow, glancing at him. “Ohh? Something requiring a reenactment, I hope?”
Cloud huffed, giving his shoulder a light shove even though he was smiling. “No, not that. It was something different. I think… maybe it was in Junon? There was a lot of water, and it was cold and rainy. You brought me hot chocolate and picked on a really awful scarf I was wearing.”
Genesis’ expression softened a little and he nodded, reaching over to brush one unruly spike of blond hair out of his lover’s face. “That happened, yes. Angeal was trying to teach Zack to knit, and he used the absolute worst colors for all of us. You made it work, I suppose. I actually found it rather cute.”
Cloud relaxed with a small smile, relieved it was a real memory. Since reuniting, they’d spent time working on it off and on as he was ready, bits and pieces.
Genesis was privately pleased that so many that came back naturally were of them together, even in times they weren’t yet ‘together’ - it felt good, to give that back to him. Especially after helping take so much away.
A light nudge at his leg made him look to Cloud, who gave him a knowing look. “None of that. It was a good dream.”
“Even better awake?” He asked softly, smiling when Cloud leaned in for a coffee-flavored kiss.
“Even better.”
