Genesis and Angeal had come through for Sephiroth on the whole, the first of which putting out full-on diva persona to draw attention and generally being a pain in the ass. Normally an annoyance, it was as much a relief as Angeal being the one handling things in a more official, face-of-SOLDIER capacity, as they were both keeping him out of view of anyone who might notice his compromised condition. It wasn’t terrible, exactly, but he was unfortunately rather aware of the same hyper-sensitivities that were so normal to Genesis, leaving him unfortunately inclined to sniff and clear his throat. Which was something he could keep quiet, it wasn’t nearly so bad as the temptation after a while to sneeze, throat getting irritated towards a cough.
Instead of staying at headquarters where he might be called in to deal with people, he spent the day taking a rather mundane mission to clean out some monsters that were coming in closer around the chocobo ranch - ShinRa was rather invested in the breeders there, to help with their own small stable that the Chocobo Scouts used. He rode his own black out, the bird increasingly neglected as he was caught up in things around Midgar, no longer free to run such wide stretches as he had in Wutai; it felt good to ride again but he was feeling rather run down when he came back and spent a little while in the stables getting himself more composed. Having thought he was alone, he’d given in, sneezing twice with a single quiet cough and sighing in irritation. At least this would pass s-
“Bless you, sir?”
Sephiroth stiffened, green eyes narrowing as they swept the stable and landed on a single trooper. Irritated and perhaps slightly embarrassed, he went to say something only to have to duck away with only a brief, sharp tingle to warn of a third oncoming sneeze. Sniffing a single time, he fixed the smaller man with a dark glare. “Not another word.”
Even with most of his face masked by his helmet, it was clear that he’d gone drastically pale. Satisfied that he’d made an impression and that nothing would be said even once he was gone, Sephiroth swept inside to head back to his apartment. Thankfully this would pass soon.
