Roleplay Sheet: Revan, Star Wars
Fandom: Star Wars, KOTOR/TSL
Character: Riayn "Revan" Veja
Open for crossovers? Yes
Appearance:
As an adult, Revan stands at an unassuming 5′4, little more than an inch added by her usual boots. She is a dark skinned human with reddish brown eyes and long black hair that falls down to her waist. Most of her life was spent in robes, which she finds most comfortable, though she favors more fitted tops with long, flowing skirts.
Personality:
Riayn has changed superficially from both her identity as Knight Va and Darth Revan, but her core traits have remained the same. She’s still driven, charismatic, and fiercely loyal to causes she believes in and people she holds dear. But her trust has been damaged, and she’s much less optimistic than she used to be.
Backstory:
Born to a pair of merchants on Eriadu in 341 BTC (3994 BBY), Rei Va would go on to become one of the shining stars of the Jedi Order. While she was officially padawan to Jedi Master Arren Kae, Rei would seek out dozens of other masters throughout her apprenticeship in an effort to sate her hunger for knowledge alongside her close friend Alek, learning from the likes of Master Dorak (Chronicler of the Jedi and a Council Member) and Master Zhar Lestin while he still served at the Coruscant Temple.
Knighted at the age of nineteen, Rei was considered a prodigy and was known for her extensive, eclectic knowledge and skill set. She had a gift for languages and studied into a variety of uncommon Force powers such as Force bonds and Force sight. Over the next few years, she would come to be known as a charismatic leader, which came into play when the Mandalorians invaded.
When the Jedi Council refused to involve the order in the conflict despite war clearly looming on the horizon, Rei made her disagreement publicly known. With the help of Alek, she began to gather likeminded Jedi to her cause in what would become known as the Revanchist Movement. The members were initially known as the Jedi Crusaders, with Rei acknowledged as their unofficial leader and an informal master. Eventually, the media went so far as to change from calling her the Revanchist Leader and simply called her The Revanchist.
The Council would continue to oppose the movement, going so far as to call for the arrest of the rogue Jedi, up until a meeting on Cathar. Several masters followed Alek (now going by Malek) to the site of the Cathar genocide at the hands of the Mandalorians where they met with the intent to order the disbanding of the movement. This was interrupted by a Force vision triggered by Rei picking up a Mandalorian mask off the battlefield, revealing the memory of the battle and of a lone Mandalorian that had tried - and failed - to stop the complete genocide.
The vision forced the Council members to confront the truth of the atrocities being committed, and they stood down from opposing the Revanchist movement. In that moment, equally moved, Rei claimed the mask as a symbol, vowing to wear it until the battle was done, and claiming the name Revan.
With the unofficial sanction from the Jedi Council, a compromise was made allowing the Jedi to join the Republic’s war efforts under the mantle of the Mercy Corps, under the command of Revan. After continued victories, Revan would eventually be made the Supreme Commander and placed in charge of one third of the Republic’s military.
Revan and Malak’s successes against the Mandalorians required a certain ruthlessness that their Jedi upbringing hadn’t prepared them to cope with, and the two began a slow descent into the dark side. The war climaxed in a battle on Malachor V where Revan defeated Mandalore the Ultimate in single combat before ordering the use of the Mass Shadow Generator superweapon - destroying not only the Mandalorians, but the planet and much of Revan’s own fleet. Despite the massive death toll, the act was a decisive victory that finally brought the war to a close. Revan and Malak were hailed as heroes.
The pair did not stay to reap the rewards of their victory, chasing the hints of Sith influence into the Unknown Regions. It was there that they were confronted with Emperor Vitiate, who was able to overpower their minds and sent them on a search for the Star Forge. However, the powerful duo broke free of his mind control and chose instead to use the Star Forge themselves with the goal of creating their own empire, unifying the galaxy to have the strength to stand up to Vitiate’s hidden Sith Empire.
Now turned to the dark side, Darths Revan and Malak set out to conquer the galaxy in what would become known as the Jedi Civil War. Many people, inspired by the victories Revan had led them to in the last war, joined her willingly - to the point where they had a solid third of the galaxy under their control. It looked strongly as if more would continue to follow, but a Jedi strike team ambushed Revan’s fleet. In true Sith fashion, when Malak sensed the distraction he fired on Revan’s ship - nearly killing her, but for the interference of Bastila Shan.
The Jedi team returned with the nearly dead Revan, turning her over to the Council for judgment. The decision was made to wipe her mind, programming in a new identity.
This would not last.
Revan - now under the assumed identity of Republic Scout Riayn Veja - began having dreams as her memories began to resurface, too powerful for the mind wipe to truly succeed. These persisted through a journey based off the Jedi Council’s manipulations, as she was taken in and “trained” before being sent off with the goal of finding the Star Forge and defeating Malak.
In the end, Riayn did find the Star Forge, and did defeat Malak, but not before her once-friend ripped away the Jedi Council’s lies, enlightening her to her former identity. At this point, while she responds to Revan, Riayn considers both Darth Revan and Knight Rei Va to be dead, and no longer considers herself Jedi or Sith.
Main Verses:
V: The Jedi (pre-KOTOR)
Any period before KOTOR, from when she is the Jedi Knight/General Rei Va fighting against the Mandalorians through her return as Darth Revan fighting against the Republic.
V: The Scout (KOTOR)
Oblivious to the machinations of the Jedi Council, the former Darth lives a peaceful life under the identity of Riayn Veja, scout and translator for the Republic Fleet.
V: The Prodigal Knight (post-reveal)
Despite the revelation of her previous existence as Revan, Riayn has chosen to continue to forge a new path for herself, independent of both the Jedi and Sith. As her memories continue to return, however, she becomes increasingly restless; it won’t be long until she goes searching for answers.
V: The Restless Spirit (SWTOR through movie eras)
Riayn died at the hands of the Emperor, when confronting him with the Exile and Darth Scourge. Her body was taken and an imperfect clone created, male, that would eventually be twisted to serve the Emperor’s purposes.
Restless and indignant at the way her legacy was twisted, Riayn refuses to join the Force and continues to linger on as a Force Ghost, able to move between areas strong in the Force. Her holocron, originally in possession of Bastila, eventually ends up a lost relic.
Roleplay Notes:
Sidenote: Yes, I am aware of how SWTOR did Revan. However, I did KOTOR way before TOR and my Revan will always be a Light Side female WOC, not the stereotypical "tortured grizzled white male" that SWTOR insists on. I don't like what they did there, and the book was so dry I couldn't even finish it. So we're just going to work around that.
Content Warnings: Canon-typical violence
Shipping: Yes, with chemistry.
