Roleplay Sheet: Kunzite, Sailor Moon

Character: Kain "Kunzite" Easton

Appearance:
Kain is the tallest Shitennou, coming in at 6′3, with an athletic build even before his time with the Dark Kingdom. His expression is usually guarded, or in the very least kept calm as he plays his emotions close to his chest. His silvery white hair is kept long, just past his shoulders, and several shades lighter than his gray eyes. Both ears are pierced, though he keeps to studs or tiny hoops in civilian form. He prefers to wear rich, deep colors that contrast with his fair coloring.
As Beryl’s general, he wore a silver and gray uniform that mirrored the appearance of the gold and white one he wore as Endymion’s Shitennou, and longer earrings.
Personality:
Stern. Controlled. Determined. There’s not too much difference in Kain and Kunzite, but after two lifetimes ending in pain, Kain has learned to cling to those he holds dear. Once someone has his trust, he opens himself up and is far warmer than most people would expect him to be capable of.
Backstory:
During the Silver Millennium, Kunzite was one of the Four Heavenly Kings who served Prince Endymion as a general and advisor. Well versed in both politics and warfare, Kunzite was something of a mentor as well as his Prince’s close friend and confidante. He headed the Shitennou as their leader, and was most often the one to deal with the Senshi when they would sneak down to Earth. Despite intense chemistry with Venus, his duties and the tenuous alliance between the Earth and Moon kept them from having a formal relationship.
While he initially resisted Beryl’s influence, eventually she was able to prey on his uncertainties about the Moon Kingdom, twisting his concerns until he was her pawn in a war he never would have fought against his Prince’s wishes. Completely under her spell, he didn’t regain control until it was far too late, and died knowing he had failed his prince.
When Queen Serenity granted life to her daughter’s court, she extended her mercy, not only to Endymion but his generals. Kunzite was reborn as Kain Easton to a British couple while passing through Egypt. His fascination with the region was assumed to be because of his birth, no one ever suspecting he had lived there in a previous life.
When Kain graduated college, he traveled abroad to Tokyo on a whim. It was there that he met the reincarnation of Beryl, and - without any knowledge of magic to defend himself - was taken once more as her pawn. Reunited with the other Shitennou, he served the Dark Kingdom as Beryl’s right hand, fighting the reincarnated Senshi and his prince. It wasn’t until Mamoru was awakened as Endymion by the power of the Silver Crystal that he began to recall his past, only to be pulled sharply back under Beryl’s control.
While Kunzite dies from the combined attack of the Senshi, his soul is trapped into a gemstone like the rest of the fallen Shitennou, and given to the brainwashed Endymion. He keeps them even once he is restored, and the Shitennou become advisors in spirit form for a time, their own memories of the past restored.
Eventually, when Mamoru retrieves the Golden Crystal, Kunzite and the other Shitennou are revived in their reincarnations once more. Needless to say, it takes some explaining to merge back into civilian life, and the Shitennou stay together, living quietly in the background and watching their prince from afar.

Queen Serenity’s wish granted more rebirths than she knew. Endymion’s guardians were each reborn on earth and lived out their lives up until the point they were found by Beryl once again and drafted into her service by old bonds.
Kain was twenty five and had just moved to Tokyo when she found him.
V: The Dark General (canon, under Beryl)
Referred to simply as Lord Kunzite by those under him, the former king has lost all memory of his service under Endymion and serves Beryl loyally until the deaths of his three fellow generals begins to stir old memories. When he at last sees Mamoru transform into Endymion, he begins to remember old oaths, but is quickly put back under Beryl’s spell.
V: Redemption at Last (AU, post Beryl)
When Kunzite finally dies at the hands of the senshi, he is turned to stone much like the other Shitennou, and acts as a spirit throughout the next few years to continue to advise Mamoru as he once did Endymion. When Mamoru retrieves the Golden Crystal, however, he and his fellow Shitennou are reborn to their past earthly lives, at the ages when they were taken by Beryl.
Needless to say, ‘Kain’ had a great deal of explaining to do to his family, and a lot of soul searching to deal with his returned memories.
